This Weekend – March 28-29: Del Shores in Little Rock

The Weekend Theater in partnership with the Little Rock Film Festival and CALS Ron Robinson Theater is bringing Del Shores’ latest film, acting workshop and his hilarious one man show right to your doorstep here in Little Rock. Del Shores is a writer, director, producer, activist and comic. His career took off with the 1987 play Daddy’s Dyin’ (Who’s Got The Will?) and the subsequent 1990 film. He is best known for his 1996 play Sordid Lives which became a film in 1999 and later gave birth to an acclaimed 2008 TV series for Logo. His other plays include Southern Baptist Sissies, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife and mostly recently Yellow, which won Shores the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for Best World Premiere and Best Production. Friday, March 28th, 7:30pm – Southern Baptist Sissies General Admission is $13.50 Southern Baptist Sissies is a film of the theatrical experience of writer/director Del Shores’ GLAAD Award-winning play about four gay boys growing up in the Southern Baptist church. It explores the conflict between the caustic rhetoric of dogmatic religion and the fragile development of adolescent homosexuality while challenging hypocrisy, exposing damage and offering hope. Little Rock Film Festival Celebrates The Opening of The Ron Robinson Theater

Coming a long way since 2007, the Little Rock Film Festival has grown to be one of the most recognized film festivals in the country. Earlier last year, many of you joined us at the ground breaking ceremony for  the 315-seat state of the art Ron Robinson Theater, which will serve as the flagship home for the LRFF.  To celebrate the opening, the LRFF and CALS (Central Arkansas Library System), is programming a full week of film events–all free of charge and open to the public–to show off this beautiful new facility.
