LRFF presents Reel Civil Rights Film Festival 2014

          As a part of our year round programming schedule, The Little Rock Film Festival is proud to announce the 2014 Reel Civil Rights Film Festival – in proud partnership with the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site and Parks Department. The Reel Civil Rights Film Festival commemorates 57 years of integration at Little Rock Central High School The Reel Civil Rights Film Festival 2014 will take place Friday September 19th – Thursday September 25th, 2013. All events/screenings are open to public and free to attend. The RCRFF2014 kicks off Friday September 19th at 6pm at the Riverdale 10 Movies with Student Films. This year Academy award winning filmmaker Oliver Stone will join us for a screening and discussion of an episode from his series ‘An Untold History of the United States‘. In the spirit of the 57th anniversary of the Little Rock Central High School crisis, we also humbly welcome Dr. Terrence Roberts, a member of the Little Rock Nine, to honor local educators and social activits for thier service to the city of Little Rock. Full RCRFF2014 schedule:   FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 OPENING NIGHT STUDENT FILMS, 6:00 P.M. Location: Riverdale 10 Movies Student Films: Youth Leadership Academy / Little Rock Central High School Memory Project. Short films on social justice, youth empowerment, and selected oral histories from civil and human rights activists will be screened through a partnership with the National Park Service, Arkansas Education Television Network and other national outreach organizations. EXAMINING THE PAST TO BUILD BRIDGES TO OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE: The Reel Civil Rights Film Festival Commemorates 56 years of Integration at Little Rock Central High School As a part of our year round programming schedule, The Little Rock Film Festival is proud to announce the 2013 Reel Civil Rights Film Festival – in proud partnership with the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site and Parks Department. The festival was originally founded by Spirit Trickey, daughter of one of the Little Rock Nine. The dates of the festival are centered around the anniversary of the desegregation crisis at Little Rock Central High. “Little Rock’s importance in American civil rights history makes our city the perfect place to hold the Reel Civil Rights Film Festival,” says LRFF Executive Director Craig Renaud. “The Little Rock Film Festival is proud to help grow the Reel Civil Rights Film Festival into one more reason why Little Rock is becoming the next great Southern City.” The Reel Civil Rights Film Festival 2013 will take place Tuesday September 24th – Saturday September 28th, 2013.
