Little Rock Film Festival Celebrates The Opening of The Ron Robinson Theater

Coming a long way since 2007, the Little Rock Film Festival has grown to be one of the most recognized film festivals in the country. Earlier last year, many of you joined us at the ground breaking ceremony for  the 315-seat state of the art Ron Robinson Theater, which will serve as the flagship home for the LRFF.  To celebrate the opening, the LRFF and CALS (Central Arkansas Library System), is programming a full week of film events–all free of charge and open to the public–to show off this beautiful new facility. Ron Robinson Theater’s Opening Week Program Schedule (January 17-January 25, 2014) Friday, January 17 Ain’t in It For My Health – 7:00pm A documentary about Arkansas native Levon Helm followed by a Q&A with Amy Helm Amy Helm and Handsome Strangers Concert – 9pm   Saturday, January 18 Best of the LRFF’s 48 Hour Film Project – 3:00pm La Grande Fete, Surprise Party, Abbatoir, Vacation, The Door, The Plumber, Last Chance Romance, Drain, The Third Save, Deuces Sleepy LaBeef Rides Again – 7:00pm Documentary/concert film about Arkansas native Sleepy LaBeef followed by a Q&A with Sleepy LaBeef and Dave Pomeroy Sleepy LaBeef and Dave Pomeroy concert – 8:30pm   Monday, January 20 Moms Mabley (courtesy HBO Documentary Films) – 7:00pm A special MLK day presentation about the iconic African American standup comedienne Jackie “Moms” Mabley, who broke racial and sexual boundaries and continues to inspire comedians to this day. Submissions Now Open for the 3rd Annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show!

CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT! The 3rd annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show is now officially accepting submissions through Withoutabox.com! The Little Rock Horror Picture Show showcases the very best in genre films from all around the globe every spring in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. Films in the Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Animated genres are all accepted and celebrated at the Little Rock Horror Picture Show. After two successful years the third annual promises to be one of the biggest film events in the state of Arkansas! Films made in Arkansas are free to submit. The Little Rock Horror Picture Show gives award for Best Arkansas Film, Best Short Film, Audience Award for Best Feature and Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature. Past winners of the Audience Award have included Eric England’s Madison County and Chad Crawford Kinkle’s Jug Face, and winners of the Grand Jury Award for Best Feature have included John Geddes’s Exit Humanity and Don Thacker’s Motivational Growth. Love Stalker to play Little Rock Horror Picture Show

Matt Glasson and B. Bowls Maclean’s feature film Love Stalker will show at the Little Rock Horror Picture Show.  The unconventional dark comedy with horror elements also stars co-director Matt Glasson and Rachel Chapman and was shot in and around St. Louis, Missouri. The film tells the story of Pete, a 30-something bar-hopper constantly trolling for women as he falls in love with Stephanie, a relationship advice blogger.  Things are great until Stephanie leaves him and Pete tries to win her back, but in all the wrong ways and everything takes a dark turn. Little Rock Horror Picture Show OPENING NIGHT FILM

The Little Rock Film Festival is extremely proud to announce that the Little Rock Horror Picture Show’s Opening Night film will be Madison County from Arkansas native and writer/director Eric England.  The film stars Arkansas native Colley Bailey, as well as Nick Principe, Ace Marrero, Natalie Sheetz, Joanna Sotomura, and Matt Mercer. The film was shot in and around Ozark, Arkansas In the film a group of college kids travel to mountainy Madison County to interview the author of a tell-all book on the accounts of several grisly murders. But when the kids get to Madison County, the author is no where to be found and the locals act like they haven’t seen him in years. They also say that the killer never existed and the murders never happened. However, when the kids start digging around to get their own answers, they find out that the stories maybe more real than the locals are letting on! The film world premiered to a sold out crowd October 17th, 2011 at LA Scream Fest and was the only film to receive an encore screening at the fest. "The Holding" Will Show at Little Rock Horror Picture Show

The Holding is a taut thriller with a horror edge fully shot in the United Kingdom.  On an isolated farm in the English countryside, Cassie Naylor kills her husband to protect her daughters from him. Eight months later when a charming drifter shows up her secret comes back to haunt her. The film stars Kierston Wareing, Vincent Regan, Terry Stone, Skye Lourie, Maisie Lloyd and David Bradley (Harry Potter, Captain America – The First Avenger).  It is directed by Susan Jacobson from a script by James Dormer.
