Its iconic figure for more than 40 yearsJoe Paterno, the head coach of the school's football team, took on mythic national stature as 'Saint Joe.' But in November 2011, everything came crashing down when former Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with child sex abuse. Filmed over the course of the year after Sandusky's arrest, Amir Bar-Lev creates a parable of guilt, responsibility, and identity for a small town caught in the glare of the national spotlight. read more

Little Rock Film Festival Artisan Street Fair, May17th

In keeping with its goal of promoting the local arts and culture, Little Rock Film Festival will host its first ever Artisan Street Fair - May 17th. The event will be part of the 2014 Film Festival, which that takes place May 12th -18th this year, and take place by our main festival venue: CALS Ron Robinson Theater in downtown Little Rock. LRFF’s Artisan Street Fair will pay homage to our Southern roots by bringing together a collection of Little Rock's best vendors in a bustling downtown outdoor marketplace.  We will curate the finest artisanal food, vintage clothing, jewelry, crafts, home goods, drinks and much more, giving film festival goers, filmmakers and shoppers the joy of discovering the next ‘big thing’ here in Little Rock and also giving them a taste of some of the best things rocking Little Rock. read more

LRFF2014 Announces Golden Rock Narrative Competition Lineup

The 2014 Golden Rock Narrative Competition, curated by LRFF Programmer Levi Agee has been announced. Among the selections this year are the SXSW Grand Prize Winner Fort Tilden; the SXSW Audience Award Winner Before I Disappear; Little Accidents starring Arkansas’s Jacob Lofland coming off his debut in Jeff Nichols' Mud; and A Night in Old Mexico starring Robert Duvall. LRFF2014 Announces Golden Rock Documentary Competition Lineup

The 2014 Golden Rock Documentary Competition is the most diverse and challenging in our festival’s history. Among the selections this year are the Sundance Grand Prize winner Rich Hill; The Sundance Best Director winner The Case Against 8; and the Libyan War based Point and Shoot from Academy Award nominated director Marshall Curry.  This year the LRFF will be one of the first festivals in the country to award a special jury prize for “Cinematic Non-Fiction”. Guest programmer, critic and filmmaker Robert Greene, has put together a lineup of films from around the World that are pushing the boundaries of the documentary form. Selections from the program include the Sundance Jury Prize Winner The Overnighters, and Manakamana, the latest film out of the Harvard Sensory Ethnography lab that produced last year’s Leviathan. LRFF2014 Announces Closing Night Film: Devil’s Knot

The Little Rock Film Festival 2014 is proud to announce it's Closing Night Film: Devil's Knot Directed by Academy Award® nominee Atom Egoyan and starring Resse Witherspoon and Colin Firth, Devil's Knot is based on the nonfiction book about the West Memphis 3 trial by award-winning Arkansas author Mara Leveritt. LRFF2014 Announces World Shorts Competition Lineup

Today the Little Rock Film Festival announces the line-up in an expanded World Shorts Competition. Long one of the festival's most popular sections utilizing alternative venues; the 2014 competition curated by LRFF Programmer Justin Nickels, moves to Sticky Fingers in Little Rock and The Joint in North Little Rock. The line-up includes more than 40 films from 7 different countries. Highlights include returning LRFF alum Bernardo Britto's Sundance Award winning animated short Yearbook, and Moon Molson's powerful film The Bravest, The Boldest. read more
