Little Rock Horror Picture Show 2013’s Winners Announced

  Winners announced for the 2nd Annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show (LRHPS) May 22nd – May 24th 2013. The energy last night, May 24th-the Closing Night of the LRHPS, was a mix of fun, excitement and anticipation at the White Water Tavern as LRHPS director, Justin Nickels announced the winners. The 2nd Annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show’s Winners are: Motivational Growth, Dir. Don Thacker – Grand Jury: Best Feature Film Modern Grumble, Dir. Toby Venable – Grand Jury Winner: Best Arkansas Film Jug Face, Dir. Chad Crawford Kinkle – The Audience Award for Best Feature Killer Kart, Dir. James Feeney – Best International Short The Little Rock Film Festival’s, Horror Picture Show which began in 2012 is a yearly LRFF event showcasing the best in Horror and Genre fare from around the world. In just its second year, the LRPHPS has become a popular horror genre fest in Arkansas inviting and screening 30 films from 6 countries and hosting memorable parties and get together such as the End of the World party in 2012. Films enter to compete for the Grand Jury Prize, Audience Award for Best Film, Best Arkansas Short and Best International Short. The festival also hosts some of the best panels with top talent from all over the nation currently working in films, for horror fans and non-horror fans alike! All screenings were held at the Argenta Community Theater and The Joint. Little Rock Horror Picture Show Closing Night Film…

The 2nd Annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show, March 22-24, will end with the United States Premiere of Russellville, AR native Eric England’s latest thriller ROADSIDE. England’s first film, Madison County, won the audience award at last year’s Little Rock Horror Picture Show and brought in packed houses at multiple screenings of the film. The film stars Ace Marrero and Katie Stegeman. Little Rock native Les Galusha provided the visual effects for the film. The film follows a young man and his pregnant wife as they head home for the holidays. On the way their they experience car trouble and soon realize they’re not alone. Opening Night Film of the 2nd Annual Little Rock Horror Picture Show

Director Spencer Parsons’ untitled horror film (formerly Saturday Morning Massacre, premiered at Los Angeles Film Festival 2012) will be the Little Rock Horror Picture Show’s opening night film this March 22. The film is produced by Jason Wehling, Jesse Lyda and Little Rock Film Festival alum Jonny Mars. Mars film, America’s Parking Lot opened up the 6th annual Little Rock Film Festival this past May. The film also stars Mars, as well as Ashley Rae Spillers, Josephine Decker, Adam Tate (also an LRFF alum, he produced the Oxford American Best Southern Film Pilgrim’s Song) and Paul Gordon.  The film, set in the early 90s,  is a bloody parody of Saturday morning mystery cartoons and even features a large dog! It follows a young team of paranormal investigators who set out to debunk paranormal activity. Nearly broke they decide to take on one more job, to disastrous results. End of the World Party Fundraiser for the Little Rock Horror Picture Show

The ancient Mayan’s predicted the world would end on December 21st, 2012. We don’t think that will happen, but just in case we’ve decided to throw a party! Tickets are on sale at lrff.eventbrite.com and all proceeds will go to benefit the Little Rock Film Festival and its initiatives, including the Little Rock Horror Picture Show and the Argenta Film Series. The Little Rock Film Festival is a non profit 501 (c) 3 organization. At eight o’clock on Friday December 21st spend the evening with us at Lulav at 6th and Center in downtown Little Rock. The Funk a Nites will provide entertainment. The Funk a Nites include members of Velvet Kente and Amasa Hines, two of the most popular rock bands in the state!
