The 2014 Little Rock Film Festrival kicked off last night with Amir Bar-Lev’s ‘Happy Valley’. Check out pictures from the fantastic sold-out event HERE. And remember, if you missed it you can catch another showing Thursday.
Arkansas Shorts at the Rep – We’ve got major Arkansas talent on display today, with three blocks of short films from right here in the natural state. “Unbroken Spirits,” “Adventure Time,” and “Lessons in Loss” are the themes, playing at 5, 7:15, and 9:15. Check out the shorts in each theme and buy your tickets (available for each block).
Before I Disappear: 6:00pm at CALS Ron Robinson Theater – The first film in our Golden Rock Narrative competition, Before I Disappear comes to Little Rock with an Audience Award from SXSW a ton of buzz, and an enigmatic synopsis: “At the lowest point of his life, Richie gets a call from his estranged sister, asking him to look after his eleven-year old niece, Sophia, for a few hours.”
Valley Inn: 8:30pm at CALS Ron Robinson Theater – We’ve got our first Arkansas feature of the festival premiering today! Emily Mason, a New Jersey college student, finds herself in a dusty dying small southern town, a thousand miles from home, selling Christian books door-to-door for the summer. Through a series of misadventures in “the Bookfield,” and her growing friendships with the endearing and often comical local residents, Emily begins to discover what is most valuable in life, at the Valley Inn.
Valley Inn Post Party – 10:30 at Stickyz – Following the screening of Valley Inn, head across the street for a party at Stickyz Rock’N’Roll Chicken Shack, celebrating the music from the film. Live Music performances from Randall Shreve and the Sideshow and many others. Filmmaker, Sponsor, Gold, and Silver badges admitted free.
