If you were at the discussion at this years LRFF between Paste Magazine writer Tim Basham and Legendary hollywood stuntman and director Hal Needham, it is something you will probably never forget. Hal Needham has accomplished more in a lifetime in the movies than most of us will ever dream of. I am reading my signed copy of his new book “Stuntman” now, it tells the amazing story of how a kid from rural Arkansas with an eighth grade education became the highest paid stuntman in the World and went on to direct American classics like Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run.
David Koon at the Arkansas Times said that Hal was the best interview he had ever conducted. Hal came to Little Rock with nothing but genuine enthusiasm about our festival and spent as much time as requested to talk to filmmakers and take pictures. Hal was presented with the Diamond Award for Career Excellence in Filmmaking at the awards gala at the Clinton Presidential Library.
